Fire Projects suggest System Sensor Model BEAM1224, which is a four-wire conventional reflected beam smoke detector, which is uniquely suited for protecting open areas with high ceilings, where other methods of smoke detection are difficult to install and maintain. It is to be used with UL Listed compatible control panels only. An advantage of this single-ended reflective design is that it is much easier to install than the dual-ended projected beam detectors. Alignment is quickly accomplished via an optical sight and a two-digit signal strength meter incorporated into the product. Another advantage of the BEAM1224 is that it is listed for operation in temperatures ranging from –22°F to 131°F. This means it can be used in open areas to provide early warning in environments where temperature extremes may exceed the capability of other types of smoke detectors.


System Sensor BEAM1224 supplied by Fire Projects consists of a transmitter/receiver unit and a reflector. When smoke enters the area between the unit and the reflector, the smoke causes a reduction in the signal. When the smoke level reaches the predetermined threshold, an alarm is activated. System Sensor BEAM1224 has four standard sensitivity selections, along with two Acclimate™ settings (adjustable sensitivity). When one of the two Acclimate settings is selected, the detector will automatically adjust its sensitivity using advanced software algorithms to choose the optimum sensitivity for the specific environment.

System Sensor BEAM1224S is also equipped with an integral sensitivity test feature, which consists of a test filter attached to a servo motor inside the detector optics. When the remote test station RTS451 /RTS151 is used, the motor is activated and moves the filter into the pathway of the light beam, to test the detector’s sensitivity. This integral sensitivity test feature allows the user to quickly and easily meet the annual S911 3017888 7260-1209:228 54-04-E 2165 maintenance and test requirements of NFPA 72.

In addition, each system controller houses two pairs of fire and fault relays, one per detector. This innovative system has been designed from the ground up to include pioneering technology that fully addresses the needs of the installer and user, both now and in the future.

 

With its industry leading optics, the Fireray 5000 is ideally suited for the protection of large areas where the use of traditional detection technologies would prove to be too difficult and/or costly to install.
The Fireray 5000 supplied by Fire Projects, combines an infrared transmitter and receiver in the same discrete unit and operates by projecting a well-defined beam to a reflective prism, which returns the beam to the receiver for analysis. Smoke in the beam path causes a drop in power, which, if below a pre-determined level, results in an alarm signal.
Fireray 5000 is quickest and easiest detector, which is getting system operation simplified by number of ground breaking features. A full range of installation acessories are available including the new Adjustment Bracket, which allows a greater degree of flexibility during installation. Once detector head are connected, using esifit First fix system, and integral laser can be activated. This allows the reflective prism to be positioned quickly and with confidence. Once the laser has been used to coarsely align the beam, Auto-align take over and automatically steers the beam into the optimum position. During alignment the system automatically switches to high current mode and drops back to low current mode when in normal operation, however alignment is still possible to in low current mode.

It operates primarily on the principle of light obscuration utilising an Infra-Red beam. Fire Projects has done several installation of optical beam smoke detectors, which are particularly appropriate for protecting buildings with large open spaces such as warehouses, atriums etc.

The Morley-IAS MI-LPB2 detector is a combined transmitter/receiver unit that can be directly connected to an analogue loop circuit. The Infra-Red transmitter generates a beam of light towards a high efficiency reflector. The reflector returns the beam to the receiver where an analysis of the received signal is made. Fire Projects may change in the strength of the received signal is used to determine the alarm condition.

The sensitivity of the detector can be set by Fire Projects between 25% and 50% obscuration, providing application flexibility to suit the environment in which the detector will be installed. In addition to the four fixed value alarm thresholds, there are two variable thresholds that automatically compensate for changes in the environment which could otherwise result in unwanted alarms while remaining within a known sensitivity range. Beam detector installed by Fire Projects can incorporates automatic drift compensation, whereby the detector will adjust its detection thresholds in line with any long term signal reduction of the beam caused by contamination of the optical surface. The detector can be adjusted up to 10° vertically and horizontally for alignment. Where greater angular adjustment is required, the multi-mount accessory enables the detector to move through 28° vertically and 360° horizontally when ceiling mounted or up to 23° vertically and 90° horizontally when wall mounted.

The FireRay 3000 is ideal for applications where line of sight for the IR (infra-red) detection path is narrow and where the building structure uses reflective surfaces. It has also been designed to be aesthetically pleasing and thus can equally suit modern architectural buildings as well as heritage sites, particularly where ornate ceilings exist. This detector offers cost effective protection of large, open area spaces with high ceilings. It is also very suited to applications where access to ceiling mounted smoke detectors presents practical difficulties.

Fire Projects supply Fireray 3000 comprises a modern looking transmitter head, which emits a narrow beam of infra-read light to an associated receiver head, with a compact low level controller. Once smoke crosses through and thus obscures the IR beam path, the signal strength at the receiver drops below a present level which in trun results in an alarm condition. Both the detector heads, Transmitter and Receiver, have integrated alignment thumbwheels for ease of alignment. Using these thumbwheels provides a smooth and repeatable alignment process. The detector heads have up to 10 degrees of adjustment in both planes. Fire Projects does further adjustment with bespoke Adjustment Bracket, which offers up to 180 degrees movement in both planes, as well as a full 360-degree rotation.

The Fireray 3000 has been designed so that it can be installed by one operator, with its laser assisted alignment method combined with easy to use alignment LED’s offering visual feedback. Integrated laser alignment aid can be activated at the Controller or at the Receiver head. The Fireray 3000 also has a feature which allows for the Transmitter to be powered from the Controller by wiring directly, thus reducing the number of power supplies required. The low level Controller incorporates a LCD display, which offers a full icon-based, easy-to-use interface unit. This Controller enables ease of commissioning, testing and maintenance of the beam detection system. During commissioning the detector's fire sensitivity thresholds can be selected, along with the user variable time to fire and time to fault settings.

The Fireray 2000 EExd is ideally suited to protect large areas with potentially explosive atmospheres, protection against smoking fires can e provided by this beam. Fireray 2000 EExd includes an infrared transmitter and a receiver, both of which are ATEX-certified for use in Group 2 hazardous areas. There is a separate, safe area, wall mounted remote low level control unit to allow adjustment and testing from a convenient non-hazardous location.

If smoke is present in the Fireray 2000 EExd's path, the received signal is reduce by a level determined by the density of the smoke. If smoke reduces the signal strength to between the obscuration threshold and 93% for approximately 10 seconds, the fire alarm relay is activated. Fire Projects configure alarm threhold of Fireray 2000 EExd to 25%, 35% or 50% to suit the installation and depending application.

The projected beam type smoke detector shall be a 4-wire 12/24 VDC device to be used with nationally recognized testing laboratory's listed separately supplied 4-wire control panel. Fire Projects supply the unit and it consist of an integrated transmitter and receiver. The detector shall operate between the range of 33ft to 330ft (10m to 100m). Fireray 2000 an explosion proof beam detector shall feature automatic gain control and will compensate for gradual signal deterioration from dirt accumulation on the lens. The beam detector shall be ATEX certified, and comply with EN54:12 and meet EExd IIB T6 temperature range requirements. The unit shall include one wall mount alignment bracket. Testing shall be carried out by using calibration test filter.
